Devil May Cry 5 is the most stylish and flashy game I have played. Every action you do bleeds style, everything is over the top and the game loves to push you into the spotlight. DMC 5 features 3 playable characters, V, Nero and Dante. The game features a ranking system that measures how well you’re doing in combat encounter. They range from D to A followed by the S to SSS tiers to show you how well you’ve played in that battle. The soundtrack is one of the best in the series. Each character has their own theme. The battle themes make even the shortest battles feel awesome. They feel like they are made with the characters in mind. Nero’s theme called Devil Trigger is a raucous punk tune that reflects the personality of the character. V’s theme of Crimson Cloud is very similar to nine inch nails which matches V’s goth look. Dante’s theme is called Subhuman, the lyrics echo what Dante has gone through in his life.

The game concludes the story of the Sons of Sparda saga. The saga begins in DMC 3 where the sibling rivalry between Dante and his twin brother Vergil. The game begins in Redgrave city where all 3 characters have come together to fight a new threat, a demon by the name of Urizen. You jump from Character to character as you progress through the story. Each of the characters play differently.

V is heavily injured so he can’t fight his own battles. He relies on his familiars of a panther, bird and a large gooey monster. You control the summons remotely, the bird named Griffon is assigned to the role of ranged. His attacks can knock enemies into the air and blast them from afar. The panther named Shadow has the role of melee damage. his attack can grind your enemies to bits or attack multiple enemies at once with his long tail. The monster named Nightmare is summoned when you pop your Devil Trigger a special meter that fills when you defeat enemies. V’s hair is transformed to white. Nightmare will appear, he is his own being and you have no control over him. He crushes your foes with his massive attacks.

Nero uses a special set of weapons, a sword called the Red Queen, a gun called the Blue rose and a robot arm attachment called the Devil Bringer. The Red Queen has a engine in its handle that can be revved to increase it power but for only one attack. The Blue Rose can be charged to increase its power too allowing for sick mid-air combos, playing keepy ups with your enemies. The Devil Bringer can be switched out to many different arms such as a rocket powered arm that fires your character into the air allowing for more time to keep your foes floating.

Dante’s gameplay is fast and powerful, using a variety of weapons called Devil Arms to fight off demons. It can range from his sword rebellion to the fiery fists of balrog. Dante can also has access to ranged weapons like his dual pistols Ebony and Ivory or the high powered RPG the Kalina Ann. He also has access to the Devil Trigger, it transforms him into a devil form which dramatically increases his power.

Devil May Cry is one of my personal favourite action series with each entry raising the bar for the others. this game has continued the pure style and action filled gameplay that the pervious entries have made popular. This game has been years in the making and feels like a true sequel that Devil may cry deserves.
